Re: Petition to LEPAC to Establish a Subcommittee on Prevention of Occupational Lead Exposure
Dear Gentlemen:
Founded in 1916, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) is the nation's largest medical society dedicated to promoting the health of workers through preventive medicine, clinical care, research, and education. ACOEM’s 4,000 occupational medicine physicians and allied health professionals are united via the College to develop positions and policies on vital issues relevant to the practice of preventive medicine both within and outside of the workplace.
ACOEM has taken notice of the attached April 22, 2022, submission to the Lead Exposure Prevention Advisory Committee (LEPAC), a CDC Federal Advisory Committee, entitled, “Petition to LEPAC to Establish a Subcommittee on Prevention of Occupational Lead Exposure.” ACOEM is writing to express its support of this Petition. In addition, ACOEM would value the opportunity to nominate occupational medicine specialists who might contribute to the work of such a subcommittee, or to otherwise assist LEPAC in its efforts to address prevention of occupational lead exposure.
